Welcome to the second year of Pint of Science Gothenburg! We are excited to announce a second venue for 2025, the newly renovated Ölhallen at Pripps (Chalmers Campus). Each night, two researchers from biology, astronomy, psychology, and more, will share their stories and insights in a casual setting. You can also win fun prizes in our scientific quizzes. Tonight, we focus on the computational tools used to solve modern challenges.
NOTE: The event is completely free and open to walk-in to the public. Registering for a ticket is optional, but it helps us gauge interest for the event!

Making generative models more efficient
Sophia Staudt
(PhD Student)
Image and text generating models took the internet by storm in recent years, but research in the area of generative models is not new. Beyond the well known examples, such models have also been used for anything from creating new molecules for drug development to testing hypotheses in astrophysics. However, many of those models take many steps to create viable outputs, with each step costing time and energy. In this talk I will illustrate what causes these inefficiencies, present how conditional flow matching models may reduce the number of steps needed, and describe my own research in improving them further.
